Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 25, 2025
At GoodTerm, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
GoodTerm is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do NOT collect or have access to:
- Server credentials — hostnames, IP addresses, usernames, passwords, or SSH keys
- Terminal session content — any commands you run or their output
- File transfer data — files you upload, download, or browse
- Server data — any information stored on or about your servers
- Browsing history — how you use the terminal or which servers you connect to
Your Data Stays on Your Device
All server credentials are stored locally in your device's secure Keychain (iOS/macOS System Keychain). We never transmit this information to our servers, and we have no way to access it.
2. Information We May Collect
2.1 Anonymous Analytics (Optional)
We may collect anonymous usage statistics to help improve GoodTerm. This feature is optional and can be disabled in Settings. When enabled, we collect:
- Feature usage patterns (e.g., "terminal session started", "file transfer completed")
- App performance metrics (e.g., launch time, crash reports)
- Device type and OS version (for compatibility analysis)
This data is aggregated and anonymized. It cannot be linked back to you or your servers.
2.2 AI Assistant Queries
When you use the AI assistant feature, your questions are sent to our AI service provider for processing. We do not store these queries after processing. The AI provider may temporarily process your query to generate a response, but does not retain it.
Important: Do not include sensitive information (passwords, keys, confidential data) in AI assistant queries.
2.3 iCloud Sync Data
If you enable iCloud sync, your server configurations (excluding passwords and keys), snippets, and settings are stored in your iCloud account. This data is encrypted end-to-end by Apple. We do not have access to this data.
3. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- Keychain Storage: All sensitive credentials are stored in the iOS/macOS Keychain, protected by hardware-backed encryption
- End-to-End Encryption: iCloud sync uses Apple's end-to-end encryption
- Secure Connections: All network connections use TLS 1.3 or SSH encryption
- Zero-Knowledge Architecture: We cannot access your servers, credentials, or session data
4. Third-Party Services
GoodTerm uses the following third-party services:
- Apple iCloud: For syncing your data across devices (subject to Apple's privacy policy)
- AI Provider: For the AI assistant feature (queries are processed but not stored)
These providers have their own privacy policies governing their use of information.
5. Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Disable Analytics: Go to Settings → Privacy → Analytics to opt out
- Delete Local Data: Delete the app or use Settings → Reset to remove all local data
- Manage iCloud Data: Manage synced data through your iCloud settings
- Export Data: Use the export feature in Settings to download your configurations
6. Children's Privacy
GoodTerm is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.

Summary
We don't have access to your servers, credentials, or what you do in your terminal. Your data stays on your devices, secured by Apple's encryption. We only collect optional anonymous analytics to improve the app.
